The Banknote paintings are the most popular art pieces in the Meditation Art collection. They combine old and new with the antique canvases of rare Indian stamp paper, aka banknotes, combined with the finely detailed new paintings on top. A close knit family of artisans in Rajasthan collects the brown Indian government artifacts and paints each one by hand. Some of the categories, like ganeshas, elephants and flowers, offer a wide variety of different depictions and designs. Others are simply amazingly accurate copies, each one individually painted by hand, so even though they are seemingly identical, they are each done one by one.
These magnificent miniature paintings exemplify the skilled work of a master craftsman who uses rare, antique India currency as his canvases. These banknotes from the 1800's are collectible in their own right. Each painting is an original, and there are many of each design from which to choose. All pieces are available framed or unframed.
